When you run the Microsoft SQL Server on the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 based computer, the data saved in the MS SQL Server database might get corrupted.

When you see the transaction log file, several log entries in the file might be filled with the string of zeros. The string is exactly one record log and it is not cache-aligned.

Grounds of the issue

This problem might occur if you use the Intel PAE (Physical Addressing Extension) specification to support more than four gigabytes of installed memory on your computer system.

This issue occurs when the PTE (Page Table Entry) is in process of having its physical address changed and only low-order word has been filled in when another processor starts using this page.

The memory corruption is not precise to the MS SQL Server, and it might occur when you run other memory-intensive programs on the PAE enabled system but the data corruption usually occurs to the SQL Server.

Resolution

No solution has been provided by the Microsoft to work around the corruption issue but you can prevent it from being occurred in future by installing the latest service pack of Windows Server 2003.

For preventing the PTE from being used prior to its complete physical address has been allocated, Microsoft also provided a hotfix which is described on the company’s website.

Though, the problem can get solved using any one of the above methods, but the corruption is the main thing to consider. It could cause the nightmare of data loss and lead to catastrophic situations for an organization.

The corruption problem is curable by repairing and restoring the damaged MDF file. It is possible through the SQL recovery software. SQL recovery software are the terrific tools, designed to perform absolute MDF recovery in all instances of corruption.
